Facebook Likes Vs Followers

What’s More Important?

We get asked so many questions regarding Social Media and to be honest it changes daily

but one of the most common ones is

What’s the Difference Between Likes and Follows?

A balance between LIKE and Follows – Independent

Lets start with a simple definition……

A LIKE is a person that has decided to attach their name to your page – they are in essence a fan.

Someone who FOLLOWS has chosen to receive updates from your page and for it to be added to their feed (depending on the facebook algorithm).

They are independent of each other  and the default is to do both, LIKE and FOLLOW

Your mum would be someone who would LIKE your page – but may choose not to follow as she may not want to FOLLOW your every movement ( You went where last night!!!).

Someone who just follows wants to remain anonymous ( for whatever reason) and not have their name pop up (everyone is entitled to a choice of privacy).

Which is More Important?

In a nutshell – neither

You want them both to grow and also for the gap not to get too wide

The key as always on Social Media / Facebook – is content that leads to engagement

Lots of engagement allows you to understand your customer better and hopefully have a constructive conversation – which others will see and hopefully join in.

It doesn’t matter if you have 100,000 Likes or Followers if they aren’t actually reading, engaging with and remembering your content.
